Last year my husband received his private pilots license and in the process of flying around with him, to my surprise I found that I too loved flying. At first I thought I would go through his ground school DVD's just so I would understand the basics. That eventually developed in to a desire to get my private pilots license also. So in December I started my lessons. I'm blogging my progress (Lori Learns to Fly) and you can follow along from the Aviation Links page of this site.
As my interest in aviation grew I spent more time on-line looking at aviation web sites. I saw that while there is a wealth of information and products available, there was a need for somewhere that women interested in aviation could find information, have questions answered, read product reviews and find other items specifically related to women and aviation.
SheFlies was then started with the intent to provide this place. A site for women who fly with their husbands/significant others, lady pilots, aspiring pilots, and those with careers in aviation, to find this information and products.
The site is constantly growing and developing. Future plans include an "ask the aviation expert" section, FBO reviews, along with what to do, where to eat, and where stay when you get there ideas, more product reviews, and interviews with interesting women in aviation and aviation experts. Remember to check back often to see how SheFlies develops.
Please take advantage of the message board to let me know what products and improvements you would like to see as SheFlies continues to grow and to share your aviation stories, pictures and advice with me and other fellow flying enthusiasts.
